Welcome to my table

Hello,

I am Katia the cook Mom behind @cooking_bel_beit.

My passionate journey with food began 18 years ago when I became a mother. Through introducing solid food to my babies and trying to instill in them a sense of good taste and healthy habits early on in their lives, something which is very important to me, I got hooked to the smells, the pots, the eggs, the sugar, the butter…in short, all the ingredients that make up the wonderful act of cooking.

My kitchen fast became the warmest place in my home, not only because of the heat from the oven but also because of the warmth of my family and the warmth of love; the love of cooking.

My Instagram journey started on a beautiful sunny day. As I was busy grilling fish in the garden, my teenage son took pictures and started my account saying: “Mom, your dishes always brings us together so let’s show your love of food to the world.” And so here I am: hooked, cooking and sharing.

I am lucky to live in one of the smallest, most beautiful countries in the world: Lebanon. Our cuisine is one of the healthiest and is rich with an abundance of whole grains, vegetables, fresh Mediterranean fish and olive oil, lots and lots of olive oil. I live in a tranquil village not far from Beirut, with my husband and two sons. Our home, which is surrounded by olive trees and our lush garden, is a big happy place where cousins grew up together, climbed trees, lay down on the grass and played with the dog and the cat. It is also a place where adults gathered, and still do, around a large wooden table under the mulberry tree and raised their glasses of wine or Arak while enjoying healthy traditional cuisine. My tabbouleh and fattoush are always prepared with fresh vegetables from the garden, and my quiches and cakes are made from the fresh eggs of our chickens.

Cooking changed my life. It became richer, livelier, healthier and closer to nature. What I would love to do is to inspire both newly married couples, especially young moms, to cook for their children, families and friends, and chefs who are not familiar with Lebanese cuisine to discover and try it. I also want my platform to be a guide of sorts where I share the cooking tips I learned over time and experience, the best places to buy fresh ingredients in Lebanon, and shops where one can find beautiful kitchen tools.

Lots of Lovvveee.
